Encounters South African International Documentary Festival, Africa’s premier documentary festival and one of the oldest film festivals on the continent, returns for its 25th anniversary edition.
Partnering with seven cinemas in Cape Town and Johannesburg, Encounters 2023 will showcase over 50 films in its almost two-week run.
The festival will offer captivating explorations of the human condition in Africa from deep within and with collaborative respect from abroad.
With its focus on diverse voices and perspectives, Encounters 2023 showcases a remarkable selection of films from talented women directors; follows some hard-hitting revealing narratives that go beyond ordinary “news”, while also shining a light on people’s endless capacity for creativity.
